A Confirmation of Acceptance for Studies (CAS) is a virtual document which contains information about you and your course of study. You will need a unique reference number known as a CAS number from LSBU in order to make an application for entry clearance or leave to remain as a Student Visa student.

Please ensure that you read the document Student Sponsorship and the Issuing of CAS (PDF) which outlines LSBU’s position on the issuing of CAS to students.

You should also read our guidance to ensure you understand the requirements for extending your student visa or applying for entry clearance.

New applicants and students

If you are new to LSBU or starting a new course with us then you will need to complete the following steps before we can start the process of issuing you with a CAS:

  1. Accept an unconditional offer from the University, and
  2. Pay a non-refundable deposit of 50% of the tuition fee
Students who are joining LSBU having followed the initial part of an LSBU programme at an overseas collaborative partner institution*, and are sponsored by the partner institution, will be exempted from the requirement to make a compulsory deposit payment. In addition, those students sponsored by governments, employers or other recognised scholarship agencies – e.g. Commonwealth, Chevening and other scholarship agencies – may also be exempted from this requirement at the discretion of LSBU

* A list of LSBU overseas collaborative partner institutions are available on our website.

* Deposit refund terms and conditions are listed on your Unconditional offer letter.

You will to need to complete these two steps before we can consider issuing you with a CAS so it is important that you complete these steps as early as possible to ensure that you can complete our Pre-CAS process. You can find further guidance about these two steps on your offer letter. You will then receive an email regarding the Pre-CAS process. You can read more information about the Pre-CAS process here.

Please ensure that you read the document Student Sponsorship and the Issuing of CAS (PDF) which outlines LSBU’s position on the issuing of CAS to students.
